“I uh…” Peter ran a hand through his tangled hair “I guess I just have that effect. Ya’know…strange.” He tried to give her his most convincing grin, which probably turned out awkward and crooked.
Gwen hesitated, but she shook her head. She looked up into his eyes, unable to really wipe the grin properly off her face. “Can we..do this again sometime?” she asked.
Peter smiled so big his cheeks hurt “Y-yeah…yeah sure. I’d love to.” He had to shut himself up before he tripped over his own tongue some more. He nodded, absently scratching at the back of his head. “When?”
Peter laughed softly “I just kissed you and that’s what surprised you?” He thought about it for a second, and realized that made no sense when, yeah, he is winding webbing away from her skirt and into his sleeve. “I’m…I’m Spider-Man. That doesn’t…freak you out, does it?”
“N-No, it doesn’t,” Gwen shook her head. “I’m just a bit…” she paused. “Wait. This feels strange. Why does this feel strange?”

can be friends in this reality as well,” she said with a shrug. “Pete..the other night, when I said I had a dream about you,” she began. “Please don’t freak out or anything. But..well, I dream about you a lot. All the time. And they always feel so real.”“I’m glad we’re friends, too.” Peter ran a hand over his face, trying to soothe the burning behind his eyes. He looked up and let out a breath, visible in the night chill, to reabsorb the salty pools.
His brain raced with possibilities that maybe her memories were subconsciously returning through sleep, or maybe it was because even if she technically didn’t know him right now, she still felt the same way about him. Peter gave Gwen the most convincing smile he could muster “We should definitely do this again sometime.”
“Yeah..we should..” she nodded. “Hey..are you okay?” she gently put a hand on his arm, concerned. She didn’t know how or why, but she cared a great deal for Peter. “Sorry, I don’t mean to intrude. I..should go,” she nodded, turning around. But she didn’t want to leave.
“Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just….allergies, I guess.” he absently rubbed his eye with the heel of his palm.
“Gwen, wait!” Peter reached out to grab her shoulder but unintentionally webbed her instead, the tiny thread pulling her into his personal space. He hesitated for a moment before gently kissing her, a simple brush of lips. “I really do want to see you again.” he mumbled when he pulled away.“Y…You…” Gwen looked down at the thread attached to some sort of cartridge on Peter’s wrist, then back up to Peter in disbelief. “What..you’re…you’re Spider-Man??” she asked, out of breath.
